What you need

Aura T1D reads glucose from one source per account: either your Nightscout site, or your Dexcom account through Dexcom Share.

With Nightscout

With Dexcom Share

Dexcom Share provides glucose readings only, and only the last 24 hours, so trends build up from the day you connect. Insulin, carbs, Loop status, device ages and inviting family members come from Nightscout and are not available on a Dexcom account. Alerts on a Dexcom account use the app's standard thresholds — urgent low 55 mg/dL (3.1 mmol/L), urgent high 260 mg/dL (14.4 mmol/L) — and cannot yet be customised. Dexcom Share is Dexcom's own service; Aura T1D is not affiliated with or endorsed by Dexcom.

Aura T1D does not replace Nightscout, the Dexcom app or your CGM app. It reads what your source already has and presents it clearly.

Getting started

  1. Sign in with your email address or Google account.
  2. Choose your source, then enter your Nightscout address and access token, or your Dexcom username, password and region, and tap Connect.
  3. Your dashboard opens with your current reading and the last 24 hours (plus insulin and carbs with Nightscout).
  4. Open Insights for time in range, estimated A1C and weekly patterns.
  5. In Account you can pick mg/dL or mmol/L, choose a theme, and invite family or caregivers.

Common questions

My readings look old or greyed out.

The app deliberately greys out readings that are more than a few minutes old and shows a banner, so it never looks fresher than the data really is. Check that your CGM app is uploading to Nightscout (or that the Dexcom app is still sharing) and that your phone has a connection.

It says it cannot connect to my site.

Double-check the site address (it must start with https://) and that the token has the readable role. Tokens are case-sensitive. If your site works in a browser but not here, try creating a fresh token.

It says Dexcom Share rejected my username or password.

Use the account that signs in to the Dexcom app on the phone connected to the sensor, with Share turned on in that app. A Follow account will not work. Check that the region matches where the Dexcom account was created. Dexcom locks an account for a while after several failed logins, so if you have tried a few times, wait before trying again.

It says it couldn't reach Dexcom Share.

Dexcom Share is Dexcom's own service and Aura T1D depends on it being up. Wait a minute and try again. If it keeps happening, check that the Dexcom app is still sharing and that Dexcom's services are not having an outage. Dexcom may change or restrict Share; if that happens the app shows the source as unavailable rather than showing old readings as if they were fresh.

Can my partner or my child's other caregiver see the same data?

Yes. In Account, enter their email under Access and tap Invite. They sign in with that email and see your dashboard. They cannot change your connection or invite others.

How do I change the units?

Account → Display units. Choose mg/dL or mmol/L. Everything, including the target band on the chart, switches immediately.

Insights say there is not enough history yet.

Trends build up from the days the app has seen since you connected. Keep using it for a couple of weeks and the 90-day trends and daily insulin totals fill in. On a Dexcom account, Dexcom Share only provides the last 24 hours, so history starts from the day you connect.

How are time in range, estimated A1C and the other figures calculated?

They follow published international consensus definitions for CGM data. Our Medical sources page explains each calculation and links to the clinical papers it comes from. In the app, tap Source on any figure, or open Account → About.

How do widgets and the lock screen reading work?

After signing in once on your iPhone, add the Aura T1D widget from the Home Screen or Lock Screen widget gallery. It shows your latest reading and trend and refreshes in the background.

Delete your account

Open Account → Delete account in the app. Your account closes straight away and you are signed out. This cannot be undone from the app: you will not be able to sign in again, and that email address cannot be used to create a new account, so only do it if you are sure.

Closing your account does not erase the history we already hold. If you want your stored data erased too, email support@aurat1d.com from the address you signed up with and we will remove it and confirm by email. Deleting your Aura T1D account removes any stored Dexcom login from your account record, and does not affect your Nightscout site or your Dexcom account.

Important

Aura T1D is an informational display of your own data. It is not a medical device and does not provide dosing or medical recommendations. Always confirm with your CGM or Dexcom app, pump or Loop app and your care team.
